Commercial Litigation
This section represents clients involved in commercial disputes in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution settings. Contract, construction, real estate, securities disputes and warranty disputes typify many of the cases. In addition, our lawyers have successfully handled cases involving shareholder disputes, lender liability, partnership matters, mechanics lien issues, and covenants not to compete.
Our clients have included statewide and local building trade associations, petroleum industry associations, technology companies, securities Broker Dealers, and education associations, as well as real estate investment trusts.
Individual expertise in commercial litigation fuels the whole section. For instance, one partner has handled over fifty jury trials in state and federal court. He has also handled bench trials and arbitration hearings in federal and state courts throughout Virginia. Every dispute benefits from such extensive experience, for it enables our attorneys to evaluate each situation pragmatically. As a result, our commercial litigation section is noted for its vigorous pursuit of each client's objectives, and in all cases, the consequences of litigation in terms of costs and the client's potential loss of productivity are weighed against the option of astute negotiation.
