Mr. Hopewell is a member of Cantor Arkema, P.C.'s Business Law and Commercial Real Estate Practice Groups.

 

As a member of the Business Law Practice Group, Mr. Hopewell has thorough knowledge and experience with corporations, mergers and acquisitions, and finance and securities. Dwight's corporate work includes contract drafting, incorporations, and business research, as well as providing business and legal advice to companies.

 

As a member of the Commercial Real Estate Practice Group, Mr. Hopewell has experience representing borrowers in the acquisition, divestiture and financing of unimproved and improved real property, including apartment complexes, office buildings, shopping centers and warehouses.

 

With his previous firm, Dwight worked with a number of public companies. As a result, Dwight has experience with the reporting and filing requirements of public companies, including the preparation of proxy statements, and reviewing reports on Form 10-Q and Form 10-K. In addition, Dwight has worked on a number of public offerings and he has worked with various stock transfer issues, including Rule 144.

 

A comprehensive, relevant education fortifies Dwight's business expertise. He received his Juris Doctor in 1987 from the School of Law at the University of North Carolina, where he was ranked second in a class of 228. During the second year of law school, he was a member of the North Carolina Law Review, and he was its editor-in-chief during his third year. He has a masters in public policy and analysis from the Institute of Policy Sciences and Public Affairs at Duke University, where his course work included microeconomics and macroeconomics, tax policy, and budgeting and policy analysis. His B.A. in political science is from Colgate University.

 

Dwight was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1987. He is a member of the American, Virginia, and Richmond Bar Associations. He was born in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and he has made his home in Richmond since 1987.
